Expressing Worship

 Singing blog post

Psalm 47:6 says, "Sing praises to God, sing praises to our King, sing praises."

Why do we sing to God? Why don’t we just say what is on our hearts and minds? As I was thinking about this expression of worship I asked myself these two questions.

expressing wortshipT

he last two “Expressions of Worship” posts have had to do with what we do with our hands as we worship (lifting them and playing an instrument). This is the third and last Expression of Worship we read about in psalms that involves the use of our Hands.

Psalm 47:1 says, "Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy."

Probably one of the most common verses that worship leaders use is this:

"Praise the Lord with the harp; make music to him

on the ten stringed lyre. Sing to him a new song; play skillfully,

and shout for joy."  Psalm 33:2-3

hands lifted

When we worship in song there are many ways for us to express our worship other than just singing it. One of the most common ways to do this is raising or “lifting” our hands.
