Welcome

My name is Adam and I am a Worship Arts Pastor in the Kansas City metro area. I don't claim to be an expert at anything I just know that I find value in other peoples experiences and so I want to put mine out there in hopes maybe someone might benefit from them. Worship, Lead, Grow

This blog is about a journey we are all on. It’s my experiences, ideas, passions, victories and failures as a Worship Pastor, Husband, Christian and artist. My hope is to encourage and motivate those on the same journey and hopefully have some fun along the way.

Leadership

leadershpIf you go to the bookstore you can find literally thousands of books on leadership. Even if you narrow it down to “Christian” leadership there are an overwhelming number of resources that tell you just what you need to know to be a good leader. I have many of these books and resources myself, and there is value to them. I started reading 1Timothy in my devotions recently and found a treasure trove of leadership teaching, straight from one of the founding “Pastors”, Paul.

motivation

This is the final addition to the post "5 things that wil hold you back"

Lost motivation, is there such a thing?

As I sit writing this next post about motivation, I ironically have none. If you are a follower of my blog you will know that it’s been a while since my last post. I don’t know why but for a little while I feel like I lost all motivation for keeping up with my writing and blogging…. Or did I?

lazy blog postThis is another post spurred from the post 5 things that will hold you back. The first one we dug into was fear and we learned we have the power to defeat any fear that we have. The next obstacle to growth is laziness.

Laziness is a huge killer of spiritual growth. The reason is, we reach a point in our spiritual life that we feel comfortable with and we decide to just stay there, to go any further would require a good amount of energy and we just don't have it! As leaders we need to do our best to continue our growth and overcome laziness so we can help other people push through their laziness as we help them grow.

In my last post I talked about 5 things that can hold you back. In these next few posts I want to dig a little deeper into each one of these things and figure out how we can overcome them. The first one, and probably the most common is fear.

things that hold you backAs Worship leaders and pastors we are tasked with encouraging growth and spiritual development. As a fruit of this effort we see growth in a church, unhindered worship, momentum and excitement! So what holds us back? I have been thinking lately about better ways to encourage growth specifically in they way people worship through music. In doing that I came to find some things that hold us back as leaders from pushing and encouraging growth.
